from:

You can always spruce up any small place with antique furniture. Home decoration depends on anyone’s personal taste. You can have a great grandfather clock or else a fashionable coffee table. But the most important thing is that you have to keep everything at perfect place. Home décor should be perfectly arranged and there lies the caliber of a homemaker. Proper maintenance of the antique furniture is most important.

Always paint your antique furniture in a regular time gap. Different furniture should be treated with different paints. Polishing of wooden furniture and metal furniture cannot be same. You just need some leisure time and an aerosol paint to give your furniture a new look. The color should be changed in order to give the furniture a completely new look.

You can use some wooden racks to keep cloths instead of a cupboard. This is the best way to spruce up a small space. Sometimes it looks trendy and also colorful when you keep different colored cloths in a single rack.

If you have a plan to change the look of your old wooden furniture to a contemporary one, it requires some time, energy and also imagination. But if the result turns out positive, it becomes very stylish and fashionable.

In first case the existing finishing should be removed. Good sand will do if it is stained or even waxed. Secondly the piece should be wiped clean with a wet cloth. White spirit can be used in lieu of water. Wood primer is applied next which is followed by undercoating and then top coating.

In order to remove the paint completely a heat gun or chemical paint stripper can also be used. Wire wool and pain scrapper can be used in the process. Take elbow grease and sandpaper into your vicinity.

In all the cases the finishing touches are very important. You can reupholster your old seat with new fabric. You can also change your old and stained handle and also knobs. If you are fixing a new handle, the old ones should be removed and holes should be filled with wood filler. After setting the new one the piece should be painted as before.

Sometimes functioning of furniture can also be changed such as you can cut the legs of a desk and can make it a fashionable coffee table. This way you can spruce up your place as well. It is very satisfying that you are creating something new out of your old things.

As a whole it can be said that you just need to put little effort to give your home a new look either by changing the look of your old furniture or by permutation combination of the same place to make some new space there.
