Now a days wooden furniture is available with heat resistant finishing. But it is advisable not to keep it under heat for a longer time. You can close the drapes of the furniture contained room on some part of the day when the sun becomes more heat.
It is also important to keep the wooden furniture dry. Fading can occurred with the wood finishing if the furniture becomes wet. So try to wipe the furniture clean if there is any spilling of tea or coffee or any other liquid. If they dry on the chair, it can cause a permanent stain over it.
The wooden chairs should always be protected from any scratches. If you have a wooden table which is often used, use a tablecloth on top of it. Hot pots or any hot pans should never be placed directly on a wooden table. Trivets, coasters or hot pads can be used to keep those hot pans. Vinyl or rubber backing cover should not be used as these fabrics contain chemicals which can destroy the wood finishing permanently.
The cleaning of the wooden furniture is a very important task. Regular dusting is important to keep if bright and shiny. Try to use a soft dry cloth to avoid making any scratch on the surface. If the furniture becomes dirty use a wet cloth to clean it. If the stain is hard, try using some mild soap mixed with water. After cleaning with soapy solution use another wet cloth to remove the soap residue. Then a dry cloth should be used to clean the extra moisture. Any scratches can be removed with touch-up products. But avoid over using the wood polish as these sometimes occur wax build-up that results into making the furniture dull.
The storage system should be perfect. Wood is very sensitive to humidity. The chair should be place where humidity is not too less or too high. If you are planning to keep the fine wooden furniture in the basement, be sure to use a dehumidifier as these places are usually very damp. The furniture can also be covered with fine cloths to avoid build-up of fine dust.
