Make the Most of Living Room Storage

from:

Most living rooms are the first rooms that guests see and they are also the most lived in room of the house so it can be a challenge to keep them looking nice. That’s why it’s important to make the most of living room storage options when you are decorating because implementing storage into the design of your living room just makes good sense.

Built Ins

Built in bookshelves and other storage units are often the focal point of a room and they are a big selling point to homebuyers who readily gravitate to houses with this option. When you’re designing our living room, look for opportunities to construct these areas because not only do they look nice and offer extra storage but if you ever decide to sell, nice looking built in units are a plus.

While books are a natural option for built in storage units, they are not the only one. Many people display collectibles in these units and some even install lighting to show off the collections. Once you have constructed your unit, you can experiment with various objects to see what will go best in your living room.

You have a lot of choice when it comes to built ins. You can construct them of open shelves or shelves with glass doors if you want to show off something. You could also add wooden doors to the bottom for privacy. That way, you can stash things in a hurry when you need to pick up for company and yet the viewable part of your unit will still be showing off your books or collections.

Consider Accent Tables with Storage

For extra storage options in your living room, consider coffee tables and accent tables that offer storage. Whether you get the kind with a single shelf, multiple shelves, or drawers, you can get casual or elegant accent tables that provide small storage areas, either for decorative purposes or to stash things at the last minute. These tables are also ideal to stash candles or small toys when the occasion presents itself.

Use Ottomans for Storage

There are several stylish ottomans on the market today that offer a good amount of storage. Often, you can’t even tell that the ottoman opens up unless you actually try to open it. These units are great for extra seating or to prop your feet up, while also offering room to stash things you don’t want to leave lying around.

Entertainment Centers

Entertainment centers are built for storage. They hold various components, movies, and often, have room for collectibles and much more. When you’re designing your living room, choose an entertainment center that offers a maximum of storage space as these units take up a lot of floor space. This way, you can ensure you are making that space work for you and not the other way around.
