Shutter are appealing window treatments that are used both inside the home and on the outside of the home as well. Shutters are made from a variety of materials, including vinyl, wood, metal, steel, and even plastic. They are also available in a wide variety of colors and styles. Some varieties of shutters offer the option to adjust the slats, which you may want to do when you install shutters inside your home so that you can control the amount of light that comes in.

Exterior Shutters

Shutters on the outside of your home offer an aesthetic appeal and also provide protection for your home. They can protect your home from sun damage and can also prevent windows from breaking during times of high wind and storms. In fact, homeowners in areas that are prone to wind storms, tornados, and hurricanes are encouraged to install exterior shutters to protect their homes during the storms.

Interior Shutters

Interior shutters offer yet another option for window treatments inside the home. Just like blinds and shades, interior shutters offer protection from the heat, and allow you to let the light in when you please. Interior window shutters come in a variety of styles and colors and are not difficult to install.

Plantation shutters are a popular choice and are traditional made from wood or resin. You can buy them finished or unfinished and in various colors. You can also choose the slat size, including extra wide panels. You can have your plantation shutters custom made to fit hard to fit windows or other areas of your home besides windows. Wood plantation shutters also are used for louvered doors and privacy screens. You can customize these shutters for a variety of projects around your home to add to the aesthetic appeal of your home.
